About Us

Our History

The Morant Bay SDA Church started at a section in Morant Bay, St Thomas in Jamaica known as Paul Bogle near the old courthouse. It was known then as the Paul Bogle Tabernacle from the year 1930-1946.

The first ordained preacher was Pastor Stock Housen and the first two elders were Elder Caleb Burke and Elder Joseph Henriques. At that time the church consisted of several members who came from places as far as White Horses and York.

In 1939 the membership decreased drastically, and the tabernacle was demolished, however new land was acquired. This land now houses the present structure of the church. The first pastor in the new Morant Bay SDA Church was Pastor Robert Robertson. He planned a very large crusade and this revived the membership of the church. The church took a turn for the better and began to flourish by the grace of God, now the Morant Bay SDA Church stands strong keeping the mission alive.
